Women in Medicine Partners with Healio to Elevate the Voices of Female Physicians

Healio’s Women in Oncology and the Women in Medicine nonprofit organization — both initiatives that I help lead — have partnered to provide a written platform that will elevate women who work in medicine and share their experiences. Here you will find blog entries published originally through Women in Medicine (WIM), as well as features published first on Healio’s Women in Oncology. The blog aims to be inclusive of all female physicians, from those just starting their careers but making great strides, all the way to the most senior and experienced leaders in oncology.
In 2020, Healio launched its Women in Oncology series to provide a specific place and forum where women in oncology can share their voices and where we can elevate their achievements as professionals in both oncology and medicine in general. I have been proud to serve as Consultant Medical Editor for Healio’s Women in Oncology since it launched.
The WIM blog — led by Avital O’Glasser, MD — has been profoundly successful since it began in 2021, with numerous individuals submitting original content on topics from gender discrimination to tips for writing a curriculum vitae. The effort has allowed us to get the voices of some extraordinary women out to the nation.
Given the similarities in our goals and motivations, it only made sense for WIM to combine efforts and join forces with Healio’s Women in Oncology. The hope is that with this new collaboration, we will be able to further amplify the voices of women in medicine to a much broader audience.
