The Women in Medicine Summit is pleased to announce a call for nominations. The focus of this summit is to identify barriers women face in the medical field and create action plans that can be executed at both the local and national level. To this end, we are offering four awards to be given at the 2024 Summit. The Awards Committee has developed rigorous criteria that recognize outstanding clinical education, research, allyship, advocacy & community service, and leadership activities. These criteria go beyond those traditionally used for identifying those with excellence in research criteria, such as peer‐reviewed publications or grant support. The award winner must be able to attend the Women in Medicine Summit on September 13-14, 2024 or provide a recorded acceptance speech for the presentation.

Nature of the Award
The Women in Medicine Summit Awards are given annually through the generous support of our donors. The awards will be presented in-person to the recipients during the award ceremony which will take place Sept 13-14, 2024. The recipients will be honored at the Award Ceremony during the summit. Registration for the meeting will also be covered.

An award will be given for each of the following categories:
#Resilience (Individual who has overcome barriers)
Recognizes someone who has to face significant hurdles and has persisted. This award is meant to honor strength, grit, tenacity, and grace in the setting of difficult circumstances.
#Trailblazer (Woman who has championed women)
Recognizes women who have made significant contributions to improve the careers of fellow women physicians. This award is meant to honor women who have been in clinical practice for less than 10 years who lift others up and breakdown barriers for other women.
#SheforShe (Woman who has championed women)
Recognizes women who have made significant contributions to improve the careers of fellow women physicians. This award is meant to honor women who have been in clinical practice for 10 years or more who lift others up and breakdown barriers for other women.
#HeforShe #TheyforShe (Non-woman who has championed women)
Recognizes men or nonbinary individuals who have made significant contributions to improve the careers of women physicians. This award is meant to honor non-women who recognize and fight barriers for women.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE MAY 31, 2024
Nomination Process:
The Awards Committee requests that the following items be submitted:
1. Letter of Nomination detailing the contributions of the individual to women within medicine. This may be written by the Nominee or someone upon his or her behalf.
2. Candidate’s current CV
3. Additional letters of support (up to two) may be submitted as collateral information.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria:
Individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to breaking down barriers for women are eligible for nomination. We welcome broad interpretation of this statement as we recognize the complexity of the issues that women face. This may include, but is not limited to academic, quality, institutional, and community work. Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria: (1) tangible results of their actions (2) degree of impact (3) novelty of the approach. These particular awards are intended for physicians - namely those with MD or DO degrees.
Previous winners, members of the Women in Medicine Summit Planning Committees, and anyone with financial involvement with the Summit are not eligible for nomination.
Selection Process:
Nominees will be evaluated by the Awards Committee based on the selection criteria stated above. The Committee will submit the recommended recipient to the Summit Chairs for final approval. The nominees will be notified of decision by July 31, 2024.
Award Ceremony:
The awards will be presented to the recipients during the award ceremony which will take place in-person September 13-14, 2024. The recipients will be introduced and invited to give brief comments. Please note: the conference is currently unable to sponsor or provide Visas to nominees to attend the conference in-person.
